126th Lincolnshire Show - 2010

Traction engines. Each one was ticking away so we could see the parts moving. I love these big beasts and wouldn't care about the smoke or soot. They apparently travel at approx 4 miles per hour.
An entry in the Flower tent under the heading 'A Night at the Opera' This one depicted Madame Butterfly.
A clever arrangement of green flowers and plants.
A night at the opera - Carmen
Another beautiful arrangement.
The comment beside this one was along the lines that the entrant didn't make the best use of the space available. I think it is lovely! But what do I know lol.
Colourful cactus plants .....

I have indulged my love of bonsai trees here! This is a hawthorn that has been turned into a cascade.

This one was labelled Serissa.
Seven Dawn Redwoods
Spruce

Oak at the back

One of the medeival knights about to take part in a jousting competition
And another .........
Blue Chilean Eagle at the Falconry Centre

Bee keeper showing us a frame. I accidentally deleted a close up of a frame with capped cells which contained grubs. The beekeeper was stung on the hand whilst doing all this and showed us how to remove a sting just by scraping across his glove with a metal bar. Finger nails would do it too, just don't try and pull them straight out because part would be left behind because it is barbed. The poor bee would have died afterwards. It takes 10,000 journeys to make 1 pound of honey!

This photo shows the bottom section where the queen bee lives and lays her eggs in the cells constructed by the worker bees. We were shown some frames with cells containing grubs and baby bees. This beekeeper preferred to use water to spray the bees to calm them down, instead of smoke as most people do.
A nice bit of pork :)
A young black faced sheep
Lincolnshire Red cows on parade
A lovely Charolais cow
A selection of tractors pulling floats. These would have paraded round the main ring and one of them would have had the Lincolnshire Queen on board. I missed this part of the day unfortunately.
